This perfectly describes the transition phase in Notre Dame Mission Volunteers AmeriCorps when the organization needed a director pronto. It was a crucial moment that called for a miracle. And lo and behold, it happened!
Out of retirement and into the gap stepped Nancy Groszek. Nancy bought with her all the interior fortitude of a woman of faith, the life-long dedication of service and the NDMVA experience as an educator, site director, mentor, you name it!
Then once on the job, Nancy rallied a national team from within the ranks, to oversee, plan and guide this unique national ministry of Notre Dame de Namur USA. Life went on. The Mid-Year national gathering took place without a hitch. NDMVA was positioned for continued success.
What a grace from God! What a gratuitous gift for NDMVA! What a miracle! Everyone breathed easier and adopted an attitude of gratitude!
Meanwhile, the NDMVA Board, chaired by Shannon Fritz, duly aware of Nancy’s role as Interim Director, set up a Transition Committee to assess current and future organizational needs, and in light of them, conduct an earnest national search for a permanent Executive Director capable of meeting them.
Once again, Grace prevailed and the Board approved an excellent candidate, Ted Miles. Ted met the members and spoke at the Mid-Year Conference in February and will assume his role as Executive Director this spring. We welcome Ted, wish him well and look forward to getting to know him over the coming months as we continue to cheer on and support NDMVA.
Let us send endless waves of THANKS: to Nancy for her collaboration and leadership during the transition; to the Board for working thoughtfully and diligently in the search for a new Executive Director; to Ted in advance for his commitment to service and for the leadership he will bring to his new role.
Most of all let’s maintain strong our Gratitude Attitude for God’s goodness, all the time!
