The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in the US applaud the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) decision to allow DACA to continue.
The young people protected by this bill are contributors to our economy and include essential front-line health care workers, academic standouts in our universities, leaders in our parishes and communities, and veterans of our military. Moreover, they are a vibrant part of our culture. We are longstanding supporters of DREAMERS, who number more than 770,000 young people named DACA recipients.
DACA ensures that these youth are able to live their lives free of the anxiety of deportation to a country that they do not know and without the painful worry of being separated from their families.
We join with many others who seek further protection and a path to comprehensive immigration reform.
