“I nominated my organization, Pajaro Valley Loaves and Fishes, for an award from the Volunteer Center in Santa Cruz and we were very fortunate to win! The award is called Be The Difference, and our award was for promoting social & economic justice for all. I’ve been involved with PV Loaves and Fishes for over five years and it was wonderful to help secure this award for how awesome our volunteer program is.”
Two Notre Dame Mission Volunteers AmeriCorps members, serving in Bend, Oregon collaborated between their two service sites, the Children’s Forest Central Oregon and Camp Fire Central Oregon to help coordinate the annual Birds Without Borders event which “celebrates birds and connects cultures.” This event hosted around 250 people and shared bird-related activities ranging from learning about migration, arts and crafts, building birdhouses, and games. Birds without Borders aimed to combine learning with culture and create awareness around the interconnectedness of birds and the community.
