I have been a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur for 68 years. In that time, I have served as teacher, principal, and as an LVN. As a nurse, I worked at the Notre Dame Villa in Saratoga, a senior care facility for our Sisters and at Casa de Clara in San Jose. I loved nursing because by its very nature, I had a personal touch with each person. you served. My duties at the Villa included taking Sisters out on various trips. I shepherded Sisters to Disneyland, Tahoe, and Reno, and to our vacation house in Carmel, California. I found it humbling to serve Sisters at their most vulnerable time of life and felt that I learned life lessons serving these women who had been faithful to their call and mission.
At Casa de Clara, a small homeless shelter for women and children, it was fulfilling to work with the materially poor. Today, I live in South Central Los Angeles, a poor community. Here, I serve in different capacities in the Parish.
