From the time I was a child, I wanted to be a teacher. I majored in Spanish and upon graduation from college, I spent a year as a bilingual aide in a poor public school in Isla Vista. After this teaching experience, I joined the community of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. I taught kindergarten at Mission Dolores School in San Francisco. My fluency in Spanish proved especially useful at the school and in my work at Catholic Charities. I also spent time ministering in Peru.
I have an advanced degree in counseling. Today, I am the principal and religion coordinator at Notre Dame Elementary School, in Belmont, California.
